While in the house in Silverton for roughly 8 months, my girlfriend and I witnessed some pretty unusual stuff. As always I looked for logical explanations for the stuff that happened and in some instances I did find them. However, the other stuff still baffles me. Here's a list of what happened, if I can remember it all.
The biggest thing that I started noticing and that happened on a regular basis was the living room light. It was mounted on the ceiling and it had a ball chain pull string on it to turn it on and off. No wall switch. When it started I'd hear a click, like someone pulled on the string to turn the light on or off. I'd look at the light and notice the chain swinging, although the light's position wouldn't be changed from what it was. I started to test the chain, pulling on it slightly to see if I could get it to make the noise without turning the light on or off and I couldn't do it. I tested a lot to make sure that somehow the chain wasn't getting stuck on a ball and then coming out at random times. Never found that to be the case. Twice after that I was in the living room sitting on the couch and on the phone with a friend and I would just glance up at the light and just happen to catch it in the act. "Click"... and the chain would sway as if someone let go of it.
We also constantly heard noises coming from the basement. The biggest noise we heard most of the time sounded like the gallows with the floor board dropping. We would go to investigate and we would always find nothing.
Another incident involved the shade in the kitchen. All of the shades in the house were the pull kind, where you'd have to tug on it to get it to go up or down and just sort of hope it sticks where you want it. Jen, my girlfriend told me twice about the shade in the kitchen going up on it's own. She'd hear it start and turn to watch it finish its trip. I pulled on this one myself several times to see if it would stick and release on its own and again found nothing. Actually, this particular shade was the hardest in the house to get to go up or even down.
I just checked my myspace posts about this house back when it happened and I'm remembering everything else. The basement door... in this house we had a back door that led from the kitchen to this back area that was inclosed and had a couple steps going down to ground level which was sort of like a landing and from there it had the door that went outside to the back yard and a couple more steps going down to the basement door. Well everytime we'd go to let the dogs out through the back door they'd ALWAYS stare at the basement door. Like, enough to make it noticeable. When we'd go down there, they both had a problem going in with us although Angus would go in on his own, but a little reluctantly. Redd never did go in unless we drug him in. When we had Jen's mom living with us for a few months there she had her cats staying with us. Since I'm deathly allergic to cats they had to stay in the basement. Usually out-and-about cats, while down there they stayed hidden and almost never ate.
To make matters a little creepier, the next door neighbors back yard was strange. When I'd let the dogs out into the back at night, I'd sit out with them sometimes and enjoy the yard. It was nice

Most of the time they'd both start barking and running along the fence line. Serious barking, fur raised, and they'd always pinpoint a section of the neighbors yard to bark at, but nothing was ever there. In addition to that, they'd always look up toward the top of their garage. I'd sit out with them and just stare up at the roof and never see a thing, yet they'd always look at it like they were waiting on a steak to fall off.
One night in particular I was out with them and whether my eyes were playing tricks with me or not I can't say, but I watched a shadowy figure move along their privacy fence that went along the back of their yard. I stayed outside for an hour or so and it only moved twice. Once when it got my attention and once while I was looking at it. It was the size of a man and was upright. It didn't move again. The dogs also noticed it.
I think that's about all that happened at this house. If I remember or dig up any more I'll post it. I never liked that house and I'm glad we're out. If you're interested, here's a direct link to the blog post I made on my myspace page about it. Nothing really said there that wasn't here, just thought I'd post the link
linkEDIT: I found another post on my blog there with other stuff I completely forgot about. I won't post them here, go read them if you like... some freaky stuff teehee
