I know that this is a little out of the way for most people, but this is a very interesting spot. Widtsoe, UT is a ghost town very near Bryce Canyon National Park and the Dixie National Forest. There's not much left of the town, itself - a few old shells of homes, a "dump", and the cemetery.

Folks are still being buried there in the Widtsoe Cemetery. I suspect they are descendants of former residents of the town, or perhaps just people who have fallen in love with the place. This is a desert landscape, for the most part. There is no lawn - just desert sand and rocks, trees, sage, and scrub brush. The cemetery is well tended and one can always find new adornments at individual gravesites. I highly recommend you try to visit this place. The surrounding scenery is well worth the trip.

You can find more information on the Widtsoe ghost town at the following URL -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widtsoe,_Utah

I have a few photos of the cemetery from my visit to this area in August 2008. Let me know if you'd like to see any of them.

I'd love to see them thanks Maz. I love abandoned places and really old cemeteries, they have such a feel to them. Post away :)
