Neat stuff is where you find it! Here's a link to a group of Victorian re-enactors: these are the ladies of Belle Alley, home of the Carolina Belles: they are active in Cowboy Action Shooting but also really big into costuming. This thread discusses Victorian mourning practice and an exhibit pertaining thereto; it has some Belles in mourning, half-mourning and quarter-mourning attire. You can also use the Belle Alley search function to find other mourning dresses, accessories such as tear bottles -- used to capture and keep mourners' tears, worn by a widow as a brooch for years afterward -- and other interesting information of the kind!
