Ghostbusters is a classic. Nothing tops that. The sequal isn't that bad either. However, if you want some vintage stuff, try to find the original Ghost Busters movie. That was crazy. Two guys with crazy equipment and an ape that busted ghosts. I can't make this stuff up lol.

Also, the Bell Witch movie, which you can buy at http://www.thebellwitchhaunting.com/ . I'm still planning on getting myself a copy, but I haven't seen it yet. However, the reviews are really great for an indy film like this. Plus, the story of the Bell Witch is a phenominal one. If you get a chance to read up on it, it will freak you out!!!

Also, Polterguist, or however you spell it. Any of the movies from that series are good.

The Evil Dead series are pretty good.

Amityville Horror - Even though it was later found to be not real, it's still a freaky movie. Don't watch ANY of the sequals though, and I can't say if the new remake is good, I'm talking about the original.

I'm sure there are more, but at 7am it's hard to think lol. Plus, I keep thinking of horror movies, and those aren't necessarily about ghosts. I'll keep thinking though.

Thanks Matt! Yeah, I've seen a few of those and the Bell Witch is something I'll definitely check out.

Not sure I know how to spell polterguist either but I just thought of something: Would the ghost of a chicken be a Poultryguist?

Well ok, I think I've officially lost my mind....again!!!!

LOL Wow, that was bad. Actually I think it's poltergeist. That looks right.

I just ordered the Bell Witch Haunting last night when I got home and hopefully I'll have it in a couple of days. If you go to their site you can watch the trailor of it, and that gave me chills by itself. It looks great!

Have either of you watched White Noise? I haven't seen it yet, but numerous people have told me I need to watch it. Even though it doesn't sound like an accurate depiction of EVP, it does sound entertaining.

I haven't and I refuse to. Thea watched it and said it was horrible because of the inaccurate depiction of EVP's. So do so at your own risk. But I'm not going to.

And I just realized this is the "Recommended Reading" board and we're talking about movies lol.

I'll probably watch it...since I know going into it that it's not very accurate, I can just watch it for entertainment purposes only.

That's kinda like the Mothman Prophecies. The movie wasn't very accurate at all...but I still liked it. I just like the real legend/facts better.

That's what you get though when you add personal story into a historic account with no personal story that was written about. As far as the facts go about the Mothman, it was pretty accurate. But they added the personal story of this reporter guy and his wife, and all this other crap and that's what takes away from the facts. But that's also the difference in having a movie and a documentary. I loved the Mothman Prophecies, and thought it was pretty accurate, at least as far as what I know of the Mothman.

And you're right, I'll probably watch that damn movie too lol. I just hate that. They make a movie about EVP's with a well known actor to get it out in the open, and they screw it up. You know, paranormal believers have enough critics out there that they don't need help from Hollywood to make others say, "they have no idea what they're talking about." But I'll probably watch it.

You need to make a trip down to Point Pleasant and talk to some of the people who lived there during the whole Mothman thing - their story is quite a bit different than what's portrayed in the movie. Although I liked the Mothman Prophecies book, I thought it was a little boring in spots. There's another book (that I totally can't remember the name of right now) that I actually liked better. Same info, just a little easier to read, plus it has copies of the newspaper articles. It's written by the guys who run the Mothman Lives website.

The movie left so much out, and you're right - the personal story being added totally messed it up. And I was so sad that they didn't even mention the TNT Area...so much happened there!

Yeah well, they missed a lot lol. But oh well.

I've talked to people who've been to Point Pleasant, I think it was Thea actually, that went to a gas station at around 5pm and they were about to close. It was either Point Pleasant or the town in Ohio where it happened also. She asked the guy running the place why they were going to close at 5 and why the whole town was shut down at 5 and he said it was because of the Mothman and then told her to get out of town as quickly as she could. I'd love to go there!

And I'm checking out that site now that you linked to, and they say there's a Mothman festival. That's just messed up. How are you going to celebrate something that everyone feared for so long? I mean, I'd love to go to the festival. I'm just talking about them doing it. It's almost like a bunch of Jews throwing a Nazi festival lol.

lol, that's the truth! My friend Mark grew up in Gallipolis, OH (right across the river from Point Pleasant)...he's the one who told me about the Mothman and showed me around the area. The first time we went down there was before the movie came out. Most people wouldn't even talk to us about the Mothman, out of fear or sometimes just disbelief. However, after the movie the town embraced the legend! The even have a mothman statue in town!!

I say I'm going to go to the Mothman festival every year, but I'm cursed...there is always a reason I can't go! This year it's the weekend of my sister's wedding. I asked if she'd consider rescheduling so I could go to the festival, but she didn't seem to like that idea :D I may try to make it down there Sunday though, I heard it's pretty fun!

Yeah, I bet it is. Maybe I'll go with ya! Maybe we'll see Mothman together! I'd be honored if the bridge collapsed with me on it. lol

lol - I don't know if I'd be honored about having the bridge collapse with me on it! Only if I survived so I could tell the story :D

Well, I couldn't be sure...maybe you'd think it was interesting to have "died in the Silver Bridge collapse on your gravestone"? I started thinking about that...I'm sure an epitaph like that would help with my plan of having ghost stories started about my grave!

I am looking forward to reading your review on the Bell Witch movie, I saw the trailer a few months ago and thought it looked very good.

Wow, I thought I was the only person who thought about what they want on their gravestone.....I was thinking at one time of maybe having pressure sensor rigged to a soundbox that plays a scream when someone steps on it.........

That is one of the coolest gravestone ideas I've EVER read! I love it!!!

I have put quite a bit of thought into the gravestone I want. I actually saw the perfect gravestone a few weeks ago. There's a monument company in Logan, OH (Hocking County) that also does garden art...my mom and I drove down one Friday afternoon because I wanted this bird bath I saw at the Fairfield County Fair last year. Well, not only did I buy the bird bath, but we ended up spending about 2 hours there talking :D Not everyone's idea of a fun afternoon, but I loved it! The owner gave us a tour, and talked about several of the new gravestone designs he had in. The one I fell in love with was black...it was fairly simple: it was taller than a typical gravestone, and at the top it almost looked like wings. It looked like a black angel almost. I wish I could describe it better...I should have taken a picture. Of course, it was one of the most expensive ones! I think he said it was imported from Germany.

But a black gravestone would be awesome, you don't see those often. Something simple though. And I want some creepy saying or poem carved on it - I'm still trying to find the perfect one. And I have told my family and friends that they have to visit at least once a month and leave little bizarre decorations on my grave. I want people to walk by and wonder about the person buried there, with hopes that my grave causes some good ghost stories to get started about it!

When I went cemetery exploring in Bowling Green last month, the guy showing me around was telling me about the gravestone he'd like....he's thinking an eternal flame like the one at Kennedy's gravesite would be nice :D

So yeah, you're not alone in thinking about your future gravestone!!

Have you ever seen Bruce Lee's son's gravestone? Big black and simple....there is a very nice picture on "find a grave" pretty

You should get a picture of that gravestone! It sounds very cool! I'd love to see that.
