I just finished reading "How To Be A Ghost Hunter" by Richard Southall. It wasn't bad and was free of any crazy stuff (no Vampire references). It wasn't a very thick book either only 109 pages including the glossary.

Thanks for sharing, I'll have to check it out! So many include crazy stuff like vampires, gargoyles, etc so it'd be nice to find one that leaves things like that out.

Yeah, I got the Ghost Hunter Bible and it has Vampires and Gargoyles in it. That kind of disgusted me.

I have all her books too, the directions and contact info she provides for the locations really does come in handy!

Have you read "Ghosthunting Ohio" by John Kachuba? I liked it even better than the Haunted Ohio series. He also provides directions and contact info for all the places he visited.

Weird Ohio is pretty awesome too. Andy Henderson, the guy who runs Forgotten Ohio was one of the authors. It covers weird roadside attractions, haunted places, and it contains a lot of historical information.

You're very welcome, changing the avatar was easy!

There are lots of great Ohio ghost books out there. Are you just interested in ghost books? If not, a couple other good books are "Oddball Ohio" and "Ohio Oddities". They deal with strange places in Ohio - some haunted, some just plain strange!

Barnes & Noble has all of those books. I always go to that section of the store when I'm there. I like the "Images of America" books about cities and towns in Ohio also. They must have one for every single community in the state. There are all kinds of interesting old pictures in them.

Borders is a good bookstore, however Barnes and Noble seems to have a little bit larger local book section. I'm sure Borders can order anything they don't have on hand though. We actually have both here in Columbus but Barnes and Noble is more prevalent.

My dad has several bookshelves of civil war books. He's very interested in that kind of stuff.

I love the section of Ohio books in Barnes and Noble! That's always the first section I head to when I go there. And you're right, Tom - those "Images of America" books are great!

As far as my favorite authors? I think my absolute favorite is Neil Gaiman, but I also really like Clive Barker, Jeffery Deaver, and John Saul.

Instead of me listing the books again you can use this link to view our rankings. I agree, there is just some trash out there.

i paint glass, terra cotta pots, wood.just a few days ago i made a bee out of glass.two glasses.one bigger on the bottom with the yellow and black stripes around it.the smaller glass i painted a face so that you could put a small candle in it.

ive painted jewerly boxes with the american flad, confederate flag, angels, sea shells, dolphins on it.
made out of terra cotta pots......lighthouses,frogs,toy soldier ( xmas ornament.)
make butterflies out of 2 liter bottles of pop.

also for xmas but you can make it anytime.get some candy at the dollar store just to save money.get a pack of gum like wrigleys chewing gum.starlight mints, peppermint patties, hershey kisses, starburst, hersheys multi mix bag of candy like special dark,mr goodbar, original choc.,rice crispes..........

when making a john deere tracker.........

take the gum glue the pepperming patties to the side.both on either side.then on the front of that put the starlight mints.these are the wheels...put the starburst (1 piece) towards the peppermint patties.glue two hershey multi mix bag.any two pieces of candy together.the skinny part towards the gum.and towards the starlight mint part.glue the hershey kiss the pointed part towards the gum/ multi bag.the flat part will be on top of the starburst.that represents the wheel.the starburst is the chair.the multi mix the two you glue together is the engine.

when glueing it i use a hot glue gun.
my aunt made one using a train instead of a john deere tracker. but used a lifesaver roll.but im not sure how she did that.
ive made other things i just cant remember all of it.will remember it later.

cwb

not busy with the crafts.staying warm yes. im normally busy around the xmas holiday.which means im painting in august.so in dec im not painting mad like.i hate to wait til the last minute.plus, i got alot of $1 ornaments to paint at Michaels to give away to people.you can save alot of money if things only cost a buck.i paint in august because the paint dries faster in the heat than in the cold.plus, i get it out of the way so i can enjoy the holidays.i even made so much last year that i bought so much for next year.which would be this year.thats for the people i work with.i try to go with a theme.like i know this one girl likes snowmen.so i bought a few snowflakes that is suppose to be soap.with an open tin with snowmen on it.

also with the round glass ive painted a reindeer on it and around the rim put brown pipe cleaners on it.at the ends cut 2 inches for the ears and wrap it around the ends of the pipe cleaners.makes it very cute.to bad i dont have a digital camera or i could show you all of this.course even if i did i wouldnt know how to download all of that.

This is mainly directed at Graveaddiction. You said that you like Neil Gaiman, have you ever read any of his comics like Sandman?

I haven't read any of his comics...not yet anyway. Right now I've just been reading his books.
