Union Cemetery is located on both sides of Olentangy River Road in Columbus, Ohio (Clinton Township, Franklin County). The coordinates are 40° 1' 38.56" N, 83° 1' 54.8" W.

Union Cemetery was established in 1806, and it is still active. It is very well maintained by the Union Cemetery Association. The oldest section is located closest to Ackerman Road, on the east side of Olentangy River Road. The newer section, established in 1946, is located further north on Olentangy River Road, on the west side of the road. Amaranth Abbey was acquired by the Union Cemetery Association in February 2006.

I received the following e-mail from Lisa McDonald regarding Union Cemetery in August 2008:

I am very familiar with this cemetery - many famous locals are buried here, along with our beloved Woody Hayes, the former Ohio State Buckeye coach. It could be that he's restless and unhappy about the last two National Championship games in which the Buckeyes were blown out both games. I am being very serious. His grave is visited so much that security is assigned to move people along if they hang out by his grave too much. During football season there are always Buckeyes on his tombstone, along with the sponsor of the National Championship game of that year (For example, for the 2002 Fiesta Bowl sponsored by Doritos, which OSU won, there were bags and BAGS of Doritos on his grave). Nothing on his tombstone indicates that he is Woody - locals just know where he is.
