Kenyon-Rosse Chapel Cemetery is located behind Rosse Hall on the Kenyon College Campus in Gambier, Ohio (College Township, Knox County). The coordinates are 40° 22' 25" N, 82° 23' 55.7" W.
Kenyon-Rosse Chapel Cemetery is a small cemetery that was mainly used for student, faculty, and employee burials of people associated with Kenyon College. However, prior to 1866 anyone could be buried at the cemetery. The village of Gambier established the larger Oak Grove Cemetery that year to provide more room for future burials since the Kenyon-Rosse Chapel Cemetery was so small with no room to expand.
Kenyon-Rosse Chapel Cemetery isn't rumored to be haunted, but there is an interesting story involving the Lewis Mausoleum (the only mausoleum in the cemetery). Supposedly the tomb was used to produce alcohol during Prohibition!
The college takes terrific care of the cemetery, it's definitely an interesting place to visit!
