On November 6, 2007 I received an e-mail from Jenna about an interesting ouija board experience:


My name is Jenna, and I just turned 13. I had a birthday party with some friends to celebrate. I had around 10 people over that night, and we were bored so we decided to play with my mom's 40 year old oujia board. We all wanted to play, except for Danika. So she stayed out with my older brother and his friends.

We dimmed the lights and set out the oujia board on my floor. Some of us had never played it before, so Regan, whose family is Native American, started the questions because her family is very "in touch" with spirits.

Regan: Who is the spirit that is with us tonight?
Board: i....v....y

Regan: Ivy?
Board: Yes

We paused for a minute to think about some questions we could ask...we all decided to ask a couple questions about boys since we were so bored.

Me: Give us the initials of a boy who likes Catherine
Ivy: s.........y

Me: S Y?
Ivy: Yes

Catherine: Seth....Yachanin?
Ivy: Yes

Seth is Danika's boyfriend, and we didn't want to hurt her so we didn't tell her. The next Monday at school I asked him if he liked Catherine, and he blushed and was like no...why? And I was like YOU DO!!!! And he was like shut up.

After asking questions like that, we got serious about it.

We asked her if we could search for her name on google, and she said yes. First we got her last name, which was Rose. Ivy Rose.

We started searching for her online, but all that came up was "Wayne Waterbrow," who was Ivy's uncle. We then had Emily and Catherine go in and ask Ivy if she knew a Wayne Waterbrow, and she said yes, he's my uncle. Soon we found Ivy's obituary and it said her birthdate was November 21, 1912. We went in and asked her, but she said no, my birthday is November 14, 1912.

We asked her more questions, then to prove it was real, I put a number behind my back that nobody except for Katie knew what it was, and she wasn't operating the board. The number was 3, and that is what Ivy said it was. After she was done, they all asked what my number was, and I didn't say anything, I was amazed! Three was my number! Then we had Regan put a number behind her back. It was 9.

Ivy: 6 -4 +7

Which equals 9.

Then Catherine asked: Who knows my birthdate?

Only Regan and Emily knew it; me, Katie, Aimee, and Hayleigh didn't, so we asked Ivy if she knew Catherine's birthdate.

Ivy: 3...15...95

And sure enough, her birthday is March 15, 1995.

We asked her more questions, then we said we had to go since it was 3:00am after we got done.

That night Katie had a dream about Ivy.

Ivy said hi.

Ivy was pretty.

Ivy had long blonde wavy hair.

Ivy had blue eyes.

Ivy was beautiful, and nice.
