The Museum of Funeral Customs is located at 1440 Monument Avenue in Springfield, Illinois (Sangamon County).

The Museum of Funeral Customs is the second-largest funeral museum in the United States; the largest is the Museum of Funeral History in Houston, Texas. It is maintained by the Illinois Funeral Directors Association. There are many interesting exhibits, including embalming supplies, caskets, coffins, hearses, and mourning items. There is also a replica of President Lincoln's coffin and funeral procession.

The Museum of Funeral Customs is closed to the general public due to lack of funding. However, groups of six or more can contact the Illinois Funeral Directors Association to arrange a private tour. It is definitely worth checking out!

Many thanks to Minda of TheCemeteryClub.com for arranging this tour!
