Fort Amanda is located on the east side of OH-198, beside Fort Amanda Cemetery, outside Spencerville, Ohio (Auglaize County).
Fort Amanda was constructed in October of 1812 by Kentucky troops under the command of Lt. Col. Robert Pogue. It served as a supply base for the War of 1812. Nothing remains of the fort, but visitors can visit this monument and the cemetery.
Many people believe that Fort Amanda is haunted. Visitors have reported seeing a ghostly log cabin that disappears when you get close to it. Others have heard the voices of soldiers who were stationed here.
