The Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery is located on the north side of Gay Street, just west of OH-13, in Somerset, Ohio (Reading Township, Perry County). The coordinates are 39° 48' 26.9" N, 82° 18' 6.58" W.

There is a historical marker in front of the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery that marks it as the location of the first Lutheran Synod in Ohio. There is also a stone monument with a plaque that marks the site of the original log church. My coworker Deidee, who lives in nearby Thornville, Ohio, brought in the article about the historical marker's dedication ceremony. You can see it by clicking here.

I found this cemetery by accident. I absolutely hate driving around the town square in Somerset, so I decided to cut down the first street I came to...that street happened to be West Gay Street! This cemetery is great, there are so many interesting, old gravestones to look at. It's still very well taken care of, and almost all of the gravestones are still standing.

A big thank you to Tim Fisher for helping me figure out the correct name of this cemetery!
