On November 5, 2009 I received an e-mail from Drew Laskowski about an interesting ouija board experience:
Hi, my name is Drew Laskowski. Over the past 3 or 4 months my friend James and I have had numerous times where we have played ouija board. Its actually gotten to where it's a tradition to play whenever we have a sleepover or whenever we're over at each other's houses at night.
A few of these ouija sessions have been quite cool and frightening. The best part of it all is that my friend (I'll refer to him as James from now on) is a medium. He has a strange ability to channel ghosts' energy where it's easier to contact things during ouija, to even being able to let spirits take over his body to speak with someone. During this James is in a trance-like state, and everything the spirit says is in James' voice. Anyways, I have a few of these sessions to tell you about.
About 4 months ago I spent the night at James' house. We had our friend Devon over. After he had left and James' parents were asleep, we decided to sneak quietly into the attic where we had nonchalantly made a little "ouija heaven" up there. There were candles all over the room and around the board and us.
With our comfy clothes on and our psyches feeling a presence in the house (his house is inhabited by six spirits), we decided to play...well, I decided to play. James decided to sit this session out and he really wanted me to play alone while he tried to channel the spirit.
Now for this session I remember exactly what I said and what the board had said (the stories to come I don't remember what was exactly said as well):
Me: I welcome any good spirits to come and communicate with us tonight.
Board: (nothing)
Me: I welcome any good spirits to come and speak with us tonight.
Board: (nothing)
Me: I welcome any spirits (note the ommition of "good") to come and speak with us tonight...
Here the board again said nothing, but we could feel and see a presence in the room. There was a black stationary shadow just standing there in the room by some old stuff. It blended in with some other silhouettes, but was NOT there before.
Me: Is there anyone here that wants to talk?
Board: Yes
Me: What is your name?
Board: (nothing)
Me: What is your name?
Board: Nothing
Me: What is your name?!
At this point the mass moved into the silhouettes of other objects in the attic so we couldn't see it, but we could feel it cautiously creeping toward us. At this piont I actually got kinda scared, but after a few seconds I just brushed it off...not really.
Me: Please tell us your name...
Board: No
Me: Ok...fine...
Now, right next to James this old fashioned wooden wheel that looked like it belonged to a bandwagon suddenly jerked, making a loud banging noise. This scared us because it landed right on James' hand, bruising and cutting him (this made it seem as if whatever was there wanted to cause harm).
James: HOLY F**K!!
Me: Just relax... (I nervously said this, stupidly of course because I was terrified too.)
Me: Is that all you can do? (Again, I said this stupidly...I had threatened the threat to us...great)
Board: (nothing)
James: That's it! Show yourself! (You get the idea...we were pumped with adrenaline and threatened the thing yet again. Stupidly, of course)
Board: (nothing)
Right after James said this, he collapsed...he had complained earlier of the room fluctuating between freezing and swelteringly hot like summer. This made him dizzy, and that's all he remembers of that session... me though, who was there for his (let's just call it possession) grabbed his head and pinned him down on the floor. During this he growled a bit, and a minute after the whole incident happened, he was James again. While I was pinning him, I was saying the Our Father in Latin (I didn't tell James this due to his fear of demonic possesion). The minute I said Amen, he came back to normal.
This had to be one of the freakiest ouija sessions of my life...so far...
Another session that deserves reflection happened about 2 1/2 weeks after the one above...again at his house. James and I, after his parents went to bed, took out the ouija board and immediately got to playing. James told me of this spirit Cody who came to him looking for a friend. Cody was a good spirit who has to finish some work on Earth in able to go to purgatory. He is mentored by his uncle Rick, also a spirit, ready to go to heaven but who decided to stay and help Cody.
James and I started started by welcoming any good spirits who would like to come and communicate with us. After asking that question for about 10 minutes, we decided to see if Cody was there and would like to speak. Immediately the planchette moved to yes, and we were now really excited. Even though James already knew all the answers, we decided to ask Cody where he was from, when he died, and so on...About a half hour later we got bored with questions. We asked if Cody could maybe move something for us or not. Depressingly, we got the answer of no. Cody wasn't strong enough to do something like that, and he didn't have any energy sources to drain off of.
Since James and I were in the mood for some paranormal stuff to happen that night (like having a piece of wood shaped like a heart move on its own and answer all our question wasn't paranormal enough), we asked for Rick to come and speak with us. There immediately was a transition of temperature in the room: going from frigid to hot, but having a draft of freezing air coming from the ouija board...kinda weird.
We asked if Rick was there, and the board said yes. We asked weird questions to Rick, like about heaven and hell and purgatory and where people go when they die, etc. After that Cody wanted to speak again. We started talking to Cody, and in the middle of a question I was asking, the board said that Rick was leaving. At that point, a shadow looking like it was standing up from sitting on the bed with us appeared on the wall, looked like it dropped off the bed, and the shadow moved (On the wall. It was like there was an invisible presence casting a shadow) to the door and was gone. This kinda freaked us out, but we knew it was Rick.
About 20 minutes later James told me that he could let spirits come into his body so they could communicate with us better. He said that when this happens, he wouldn't remember anything that went on during that time of possession, and when the spirit spoke it would be in his (James') voice. James wanted to do this with Cody, and I agreed. James and I held hands, bowed our heads, and just sat there. James' hand started to gently shake, and then it went limp. James lifted his head, and I said "Cody? Is that you?" Cody said yes. I started to ask him questions. One of them was "What is my great-grandmother's nickname?" Cody responded "Lil." That was right! Now I hadn't and still haven't told James this. This was remarkable. I then asked Cody why he had died and when. He said he died when he was 13, and he was beaten to death by these kids who hated him for his homosexuality. When he started saying this, tears ran down his cheek. I was saddened, amazed, and a bunch of different emotions at that time. Cody then said that he wished to leave James' body. Immediately, James gasped in and was back to normal. James was wondering why he was crying, and I decided not to tell him. Cody told me that I was the only one he told that to (besides people he now knows in the spirit world) and I decided to keep it that way.
These sessions of playing ouija have really changed my life. I now believe in God a lot more than I did before, and have actually contacted my guardian angel through ouija.
I was once again at James' house, and we once again started to play ouija board. This was a short session, but I asked if there was anyone that would like to speak with me (note the me). It took a few seconds to respond, but the board, instead of just going to yes, spelled out yes. More of a formal way I guess. I then asked who it was. It went to A, then N, then G, then half of E, then stopped. I asked if it was trying to say angel. It again spelled out yes. I asked for its name. It only gave me the initial E, but I one day wish to get the full name of my guardian angel.
These are my most prominent stories of ouija board. I have many more I could talk about, but you'd probably be sitting at the computer screen reading until your eyes incinerated out of your head. I really believe that ouija boards are a way and the way to communicate with the dead and supernatural. Anyone who thinks that ouija boards are fake, I say just give it a try. I was one of those people and now I'm a full believer.
Happy Ouija-ing!
