On July 20, 2009 I received an e-mail from Courtney about an interesting ouija board experience:


My sister and I have always wanted a Ouija board, and our dad would never let us get one. He would always give his reason as "some things shouldn't be messed with." It took 4 years of begging, but my sister and I finally got the story out of him.

My dad grew up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts back in the late 1960's, and his best friend was a guy named Ben. Ben had 3 older sisters who would always mess around with the Ouija board. One day, one of Ben's sisters and her boyfriend were asking the Ouija board standard questions, and the boyfriend asked it if he would be a millionaire one day. The board told him yes. Five years later, the boyfriend got into a terrible car accident when his Jeep lost control on the highway and the brakes gave out. He would survive the accident, but he was paralyzed for the rest of his life and still is to this day. When the police investigated the accident and saw what had happened, they of course told his family. His family later entered into a class-action lawsuit against the manufacturers of the car company and won. Ben's sister's boyfriend became a millionaire, just like the Ouija board said he would, and he still is one to this day, but he is also paralyzed, never to walk ever again.

My dad said that when he heard about this, direct from the guy himself, he knew that he would never, ever, ever use a Ouija board, or allow his kids to.
