On October 27, 2009 I received an e-mail from Amanda J. about an interesting ouija board experience:
I recently got a new board, a really colorful elaborate one called the "psychic circle." It's pretty cool to look at. Jason and I gave it a shot the other day, here's how it went.
Me: We invite all spirits to come into our home and speak with us if you mean us no harm. We surround ourselves with a white light and only wish to speak with good, kind spirits who mean us absolutely no harm. You are welcome here and can trust us.
(we waited a few minutes before the planchette moved.)
Board: Hello
Me: Hello. Who is this?
Board: No
Me: Oh great. Is this Leo?
Board: No
Me: Have we ever talked to you before?
Board: Maybe
Me: Ok...Do you have something you came to tell us?
Board: Fear
Me: Ok. Fear what?
Board: Me
Me: Why should we fear you?
Board: I am strong
Me: Oh yeah? Do you have the ability to move things?
Board: Yes
Me: What makes you strong?
Board: never alive
Me: Ok, you were never alive? If you're strong will you move something?
Board: Yes
Me: Ok, go ahead. (we waited a little while and looked around to see if anything was happening)
Me: Well, what are you going to move?
Board: Look
Me: Look at what?
Board: Picture
(We both got up and looked at all the picture frames that were in the living room to see if anything was different, but we couldn't find anything.)
Me: What picture?? You didn't move anything.
Board: Home
Me: Home? A home picture? What do you mean?
Board: Yes
Me: Yes what?
Board: Look
Jason: Home picture? The 'home sweet home' sign maybe?
Me: Maybe.
(He realized we have a sign that says "home sweet home" above our steps leading upstairs. We ran to look at it, but it wasn't moved.)
Me: I think you're messing with us. We'll talk to you later, ok?
Board: Goodbye
* * * *
We went back to the same board a little while later and said the same type of opening and waited for someone.
Board: Hello
Me: Hello, who is this?
Board: Tom
Me: Oh hi, Tom! How are you?
Board: Good
Me: Anything you want to say?
Board: Stop
Me: Stop what?
Board: asking spirits
Me: Asking for new spirits to come through?
Board: Yes
Me: Why?
Board: Bad
Me: They're bad? We only ask for the ones that mean no harm.
Board: Stop
Me: Did bad spirits come through just now?
Board: Trying
Me: They're trying? Who all is here now?
Board: Max
Me: Max from before? He's back? That's good.
Jason: How come he came back to us?
Board: He is welcome
Me: He's always welcome. What is he doing?
Board: Keeping you safe
Me: from other spirits?
(Then it didn't move for almost a minute)
Me: Tom? Are you still here?
Board: Say TT
Me: Say "TT?" Is that what you meant? Why?
Board: Protect
Me: For protection??
Board: Stop
Me: Stop talking?
Board: No
Me: Stop what? I'm confused.
Board: asking
Me: For just any spirits?
Board: Yes
Me: Ok, what does "say tt" mean?
Board: Protect
Me: Saying that protects us?
Board: Yes
Me: Ok...TT. But we like getting new spirits to talk.
Board: Bad
Me: Hey Tom, will you show yourself to me again soon?
Board: Maybe
Me: When?
Board: Soon
Me: You always say that. How about today?
Board: Yes
Me: Ok, you better.
(to Jason) Let's go have a cigarette.
Jason: Ok.
Me: Tom, did you smoke when you were alive?
Board: Yes
Me: Do you miss it?
Board: yes
Me: You can steal some of mine, ok?
Board: Yes
Me: Ok, you can anytime. Talk to you soon, Ok?
Board: Yes
Me: I'm going to leave the pointer on the board. You can move it any time, ok? We'd like it if you did.
Board: Maybe
Me: Ok, Bye, Tom.
Board: Goodbye
We went out for a cigarette and joked that Tom was having one with us. We came back and my cat Mazzy was sprawled out across the board sleeping. I doubt Tom moved anything because he rarely does. But he does always claims to be playing with Mazzy when we aren't around. We moved the cat and talked to him one last time before bed.
Me: Tom, are you still here?
Board: Yes
Me: Did you share my cigarette?
Board: Yes
Jason: Hey Tom, are you going to come to our wedding next year?
Board: Maybe
Me: You should.
Board: Yes
Me: Do you love us?
Board: Maybe
Me: Maybe? We love you. Are you joking around?
Board: Yes
Me: Do you like to joke with us?
Board: Yes
Me: Hey what should our wedding song be? We can't decide.
Board: From the heart
Me: Is that a name of a song?
Board: No
Me: Just something from the heart?
Board: Yes
Me: Did you have a favorite song?
Board: No
Me: Well, what did you and your wife listen to?
Board: Oldies
Me: I like a lot of the oldies. There's a bunch of girls I like. Um...Carole King, Roberta Flack, Joni Mitchell, um...Emmylou Harris...love them!
Board: They are good.
Me: There has to be a song you like.
Board: Denver
Jason: John Denver?
Board: Come to Boston
Me: Please come to Boston? Does he sing that?
Jason: I think so?
Board: Yes play it
Me: Play it?
Board: online
Me: We'll play it on my phone, ok?
Board: Yes
(We searched youtube for it, but didn't find John Denver singing it. So we played Annie's Song by John Denver, then went back to the board.)
Me: That song is perfect! That was played at my mom and dad's wedding. Do you like that one?
Board: Yes
Me: We found it completely by accident because of you. That's a good one from the heart, right?
Board: Yes
Me: I'll be crying though. I cry so easily!
Board: I know
Me: haha do you laugh at me when I cry over little things?
Board: No I like it
Me: hahaha You like it? I don't!
Jason: I do, its sweet.
Board: Yes
Me: Ok, it's getting late. Thanks for talking so much today, Tom. Don't forget to show yourself to us tonight if you want. Goodnight!
Board: Goodbye
This is one of many conversations we've had with Tom. And we can speak to him any time we're home. He's been in our house since his death in 1983. I've grown to know him and trust him from talking with him so much. I'm really not sure what to think about the warnings he gave us. I like finding new spirits and talking with them. I thought we were doing everything right. Any advice?
